Analyst reports hardly ever talk about special areas like Server Load Balancing. And still they exist- fresh from the press: The “EMA Radar for Application Delivery Controllers and Load Balancers Q4 2011″ report.
The result corresponds with my own experience: KEMP offers a unique combination of an efficient product and a highly competitive price – and therefore was declared “value leader” by this study.
EMA shows this result as a diagram:

More detailed information about the candidates and the methodology can be found in the EMA study (Enterprise Management Associates, www.enterprisemanagment.com). That’s what they say about the KEMP LoadMaster:
“The price point is ideal for small and medium-size businesses as well as larger organization at the departmental or division level with their own discretionary IT budget to purchase a device. What is most notable is KEMP’s ability to pack as many features as they have into their LM family of products, given the price points at which they sell.
Bingo! Very well spoken. I can even confirm the statement about “larger organizations”: The LoadMaster is not necessarily to be found in the main data centres of banks and other big companies, but many of them are used in subsystems like Exchange 2010, Lync or for websites on the Internet or the Intranet.
Beside the subject of “large capacity at a budget” there is even more praise:
Another big advantage of the LoadMaster is “the Ease of Use”. Have a look at the second picture.

A 15-page abstract of the report can be found at the EMA website as a free PDF.
The whole story also is very nicely explained in the related webcast.
